While there are some great exemplars here, my favorite item is the Core Shift Blast on close reading. There are great hyperlinks in the document to researchers and some useful power points.

Close Reading--someone else's web list of close reading information.
The skill called "close reading" is fundamental for interpreting literature. "Reading closely" means developing a deep understanding and a precise interpretation of a literary passage that is based first and foremost on the words themselves. In addition, a close reading embraces larger themes and ideas evoked and/or implied by the passage itself.

The close reading exemplars on this website are intended to model how teachers can support their students as they undergo the kind of careful reading the Common Core State Standards require. Each of these exemplars features the following: readings tasks in which students are asked to read and reread passages and respond to a series of text dependent questions; vocabulary and syntax tasks which linger over noteworthy or challenging words and phrases; discussion tasks in which students are prompted to use text evidence and refine their thinking; and writing tasks that assess student understanding of the text.

From Salem-Keizer School District: Writing Text Dependent Questions for Close Reading: “Read like a detective, talk and write like a reporter”
Text-Dependent Questions...

Step Five: Create coherent sequences of text-dependent questions.

Step Seven: Create the culminating assessment.
